Canada PR from Pakistan Step by Step Guide 2026
Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) grants the legal right to live, work, and study anywhere in Canada. PR status is typically valid for five years and can be renewed, eventually leading to Canadian citizenship. Canada actively welcomes Pakistani nationals due to its multicultural policy, strong diaspora communities in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver, and high demand for skilled workers.

Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
An ECA verifies that your foreign degree is equivalent to a Canadian credential. It is mandatory under the Federal Skilled Worker Program for degrees from Pakistan. Designated organizations include WES, IQAS, and ICAS. The WES ECA typically takes 7–11 weeks (standard) or 5–7 business days (expedited). Begin the ECA process early as delays in obtaining transcripts from Pakistani universities are common.
Documents Required for Canada PR Application
Once you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), you have 60 days to submit your complete PR application. The following documents are required:

Express Entry Creating Your Profile & Draw System
Creating an Express Entry profile is done entirely online through the IRCC portal. IRCC conducts regular draws every two weeks including all-program draws and category-based selection draws targeting specific occupations like healthcare, STEM, trades, French speakers, and more. Once you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit your complete PR application.
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
The Provincial Nominee Program allows Canadian provinces to nominate foreign workers who meet their specific labor market needs. A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points virtually guaranteeing an ITA. For Pakistani applicants with lower CRS scores (below 450), PNP is often the most practical route.

Job Offer and LMIA
A valid Canadian job offer is not mandatory for most Express Entry streams, but adds 50–200 CRS points depending on the NOC TEER level. A job offer must typically be supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), which proves no Canadian citizen or PR holder was available for the position.
